Former India cricketer Praveen Kumar survives car accident

Xtra Time Web Desk: Former India cricketer Praveen Kumar had a lucky escape when his car was hit by a speeding canter near the commissioner’s residence in Meerut. The incident occurred late on Tuesday night as Praveen and his son were traveling in his Land Rover Defender vehicle. Fortunately, both Praveen and his son were unharmed, although the car suffered damage in the collision.

Upon the accident, a crowd quickly gathered at the scene and apprehended the canter driver, who was later arrested by the police. The Civil Line police station promptly arrived at the spot, and the canter driver was detained and taken to the police station. The Superintendent of Police (SP) City, Piyush Kumar, confirmed that Praveen and his son were safe.

This incident was not the first time Praveen had survived a car accident. Back in 2007, during a reception organized for his homecoming in Meerut, the former India pacer fell from an open Jeep. However, he managed to escape serious injuries on that occasion as well.

Praveen Kumar had a successful career representing India in all formats of the game. He was particularly known for his contributions in One Day Internationals (ODIs), where he picked up 77 wickets in 68 matches. Although he had limited opportunities in Test matches and T20 Internationals, he still managed to take 27 wickets in six Tests and eight wickets in ten T20Is.

After surviving this near-fatal accident, the driver responsible for hitting Praveen’s car is expected to face legal consequences for not following road protocols.
