Xtra Time Web Desk: Kerala’s Sports Minister V. Abdurahiman sent shockwaves of excitement through Indian football fans on Wednesday, 20th November, announcing plans to host Lionel Messi and the Argentina football team for an international match in the state next year 2025. While details remain sparse, the minister confidently stated that Kerala’s government and local merchants would fully fund the high-profile event, emphasizing the state’s readiness to deliver a historic football spectacle.

Messi, who last played in India in 2011 during a friendly against Venezuela in Kolkata, remains a revered figure among Indian fans, particularly in Kerala, where football enjoys unparalleled passion. Despite his move to Major League Soccer (MLS) in 2023, Messi’s matches continue to captivate Indian audiences, with fans often staying up late to witness his magic on the field.
