T20 World Cup 2024: South Africa reaches their maiden final with sheer dominance

Xtra Time Web Desk: A clinical South African team qualifies for their maiden T20 World Cup final with a resounding nine-wicket win over Afghanistan in the semifinal 1 at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad. The Proteas put themselves in pole position to reach the final after they bowled out Afghanistan for a paltry 56. They then raced to the target with 67 balls to spare.
South Africa in ICC tournaments:
South Africa was banned for their apartheid & racist policy in cricket which not only abolished non white players to play in the national squad but also proposed to play against completely white nations like Australia, England, New zealand. The banned was imposed by ICC in the year 1971 & continued till 1990. Acknowledging ICC decision and the multi racial proteas were back on field in 1991 playing their 1 st ODI since the long imposed ban on 10th NOV at the eden gardens against India.

South Africa was out of the ICC Cricket World Cup until 1992 but when it finally got its chance it was ultimately beaten by the weather as much as England in the semi-final in Sydney. South Africa has since been subject to a succession of heart-breaking exits - none more so than in 1999 when a tie in the semi-final was enough for Australia to progress at its expense. South Africa also disappointed on home soil in the inaugural ICC World Twenty20, when it went out at the Super Eights stage.
Their only major one-day success thus far came in 1998 when it won the first Champions Trophy in Bangladesh.It has always been a competitive Test outfit and traded positions with Australia at the top of the ICC rankings over the winter of 2008-09 when South African won away before its opponents returned the favour a few months later. South Africa made the semi-finals of the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2015, eventually being knocked out by co-hosts New Zealand.

After all these heartbreaks, they have finallymade it to their first T20 World Cup final. They have beenunsoppable this year in the tournamnet and would like to turn the table around towards them this team. They will now awaits fro the second finalist, which will either be India or the defending champions England.
