Xtra Time Web Desk:  In a light-hearted exchange on X, former India cricketer Wasim Jaffer humorously taunted ex-England star Michael Vaughan. The banter followed India's dismal performance in the recent ODI series against Sri Lanka, where they were defeated 2-0.

Vaughan, known for his witty remarks, questioned Jaffer about the outcome of the ODI series in Sri Lanka, given his absence. "Hi, Wasim .. What was the recent ODI series result in Sri Lanka? I have been away and missed it. Hope all is well," Vaughan inquired on X.

Jaffer seized the opportunity to poke fun at Vaughan by referencing England's Ashes record. He quipped, "I'll put it in Ashes terms for you Michael. India won as many games in that series as England has won Tests in Australia over the last 12 years."

Despite his playful jibe, Jaffer expressed genuine concern over India's upcoming ODI schedule. The team’s recent series loss, compounded by the fact they only have three ODIs remaining before the ICC Champions Trophy next year, has raised eyebrows.

In their latest ODI outing, Sri Lanka's Avishka Fernando scored a stellar 96, and Dunith Wellalage's five-wicket haul led to a commanding 110-run victory over India in the third ODI at R Premadasa Stadium.

This series marked India's first ODI engagement since their defeat to Australia in the World Cup final last November and is crucial preparation for the Champions Trophy in Pakistan next year.

India's next ODI series will be against England, with three matches scheduled at home in February. Before this, India will face Bangladesh in a two-match Test series starting September 19 at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
