Shami dismisses fake reports, confirms fitness for Border Gavaskar Trophy
Xtra Time Web Desk: Mohammed Shami has firmly denied circulating fake reports that question his availability for the upcoming Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. After being sidelined since the ODI World Cup 2023 and undergoing ankle surgery, Shami has been diligently working towards recovery.
Currently rehabilitating at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, Shami is focused on being fit for India’s Test series against New Zealand and Australia. However, false claims have surfaced, suggesting that the fast bowler has developed swollen knees, delaying his return to the national team.

In response, Shami took to his X (formerly Twitter) account, dismissing these reports. He clarified that neither he nor the BCCI has made any such statements and urged fans to avoid believing in such baseless rumors.
“Why these types of baseless rumors? I'm working hard and trying my level best to recover. Neither the BCCI nor me have mentioned that I am out of the Border Gavaskar series. I request the public to stop paying attention to such news from unofficial sources. Please stop and don’t spread such fake fake fake & fake news, especially without my statement,” Shami wrote on X.

At a recent Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) awards ceremony, Shami emphasized that while he is striving for a return, he won’t rush himself back until he’s fully fit. India will certainly need Shami’s expertise as they look to secure a third consecutive series win in Australia, having previously triumphed in 2018-19 and 2020-21.
