PAK vs ENG: Ben Stokes side-lined for Multan Test, comeback delayed, who is the captain?
Xtra Time Web Desk: Ben Stokes' injury woes continue as the England Test captain has been ruled out of the opening match in the three-Test series against Pakistan, which begins in Multan. Stokes has been sidelined since August due to a hamstring injury, causing him to miss the recent 2-1 series win over Sri Lanka. Despite traveling with the team and participating in training, his recovery hasn't progressed enough for him to feature in the first Test.
In Stokes' absence, vice-captain Ollie Pope will once again lead England, having captained the side against Sri Lanka. England’s official statement confirmed that Stokes is still recovering, prompting the team to prioritize his full recovery before he returns to action. While there were hopes Stokes could play as a specialist batter, concerns over his fitness ultimately led to him being rested.
