IPL 2025 retention rules: Bengaluru on high alert following bomb threat just before IPL GC & BCCI AGM

IPL 2025 Retention Rules and Auction Details:

In addition to the pay raise, the IPL retention rules for the 2025 season are expected to be finalized soon. The IPL Governing Council is set to meet on Saturday evening, where these rules will be discussed and potentially announced.

According to reports, the board is considering a plan to allow each of the 10 IPL teams to retain up to five players, along with one Right to Match (RTM) option. This decision comes after a series of discussions held with team owners in July, where franchisees, including the Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings, voiced opinions on retention strategies, particularly regarding key players like MS Dhoni.

The board is also likely to confirm the date for the IPL 2025 mega auction, which is tentatively set for the second week of November. Details on the auction venue could also be part of the announcement.

However, it remains unclear whether these decisions will be made public immediately following Saturday's meeting or after further discussions during the BCCI's Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Sunday.
