Xtra Time Web Desk: Australian batter Travis Head addressed his heated exchange with India's Mohammed Siraj during Day 2 of the pink-ball Test in Adelaide, claiming the Indian pacer misunderstood his compliment.

Head, who scored a scintillating 140 off 141 balls, revealed that he had praised Siraj with a "well bowled" after being dismissed. However, Siraj misinterpreted the gesture, leading to a tense send-off and an animated reaction from Head. Reflecting on the incident, Head expressed disappointment but downplayed the altercation.

"I said 'well bowled,' but he thought otherwise. When he pointed me to the shed, I bit back. Slightly disappointed with how it transpired. If that's how they want to represent themselves, so be it," said Head.

The Adelaide crowd booed Siraj in the aftermath, adding another layer of drama to the day.

Amidst the tension, Head shared a heartfelt moment, dedicating his century to his newborn son, Harrison. The batter joked about the pressure from his wife to mark the occasion after doing the same for his elder child, Miller.

"We have a newborn boy, a couple of weeks ago. I would have gotten some stick from my wife if I didn’t do that when Harrison was born," quipped Head.

On his knock, Head acknowledged his risky approach, admitting he rode his luck against a disciplined Indian attack.

"I took my chances here and there. Sometimes it was tough, but nice to put the team in a good position," he said.

At the end of Day 2, Australia held a 29-run lead, with India reeling at 5 down in their second innings. The visitors face an uphill battle to regain control of the match.
