Xtra Time Web Desk: Mohun Bagan Super Giants continued their dominance with back-to-back derby wins, this time defeating arch-rivals East Bengal 2-0 in a highly anticipated Indian Super League (ISL) match. Australian World Cupper Jamie Maclaren scored in consecutive derbies, while his compatriot Dimitri Petratos also found the back of the net to secure a crucial victory that propelled Mohun Bagan to second place in the league standings.

East Bengal made several changes to their starting XI, but Mohun Bagan Super Giants stuck to their winning combination, showing trust in their lineup.

From the very beginning, Mohun Bagan played attacking football, while East Bengal looked to hit back on the counter whenever they could. Despite the pressure, East Bengal’s goalkeeper, Prabhsukhan Gill, who started in place of Debjit, made some brilliant saves to deny multiple attempts from Manvir, Liston, and Maclaren.

Manvir delivered a perfect cross, and Jamie Maclaren, the Australian World Cupper, made no mistake, scoring his second derby goal in as many matches. Mohun Bagan led 1-0 at halftime and could have extended their lead even further.

In the second half, East Bengal made substitutions, bringing on Dimitrios in place of Clayton Silva and Vishnu in place of David. Oscar Bruzon’s side tried to increase their attacking intensity, but the pace of the game slowed down compared to the first half.

The 400th derby’s hero, Greg Stewart, dictated play from start to finish. The second goal stemmed from his excellent pass, which found substitute Dimitri Petratos inside the box. As Petratos tried to dribble past goalkeeper Gill, he was brought down, prompting referee Tejas to award a penalty. Petratos calmly slotted the ball home from the penalty spot, sealing Mohun Bagan’s 2-0 victory.

The much-anticipated "Kolkata Derby" ended with Mohun Bagan’s triumph, keeping their winning streak alive in the ISL.
