Xtra Time Web Desk: Scotland's dreams of reaching the last 16 at Euro 2024 are still very much alive after a gripping 1-1 draw against Switzerland in a crucial Group A match on Wednesday.

Determined to bounce back from their 5-1 defeat by Germany, the Scots were buoyed by the passionate support of thousands of fans. Their determination paid off early when Scott McTominay's shot in the 13th minute was deflected into the net by Swiss defender Fabian Schar, giving Scotland an early lead.

However, the advantage was short-lived. Switzerland, needing a win to secure a top-two finish, equalized in stunning fashion. Xherdan Shaqiri, recalled to the squad, capitalized on a defensive lapse and curled a magnificent shot into the top corner, leaving the Scottish goalkeeper helpless.

The drama didn't end there. Switzerland had two goals disallowed for offside—one by Dan Ndoye in the first half and another late in the game by substitute Breel Embolo. Scotland, too, came close to reclaiming the lead when Grant Hanley's powerful header struck the post.
