However, the match was notably disrupted four times by enthusiastic supporters rushing onto the pitch for selfies with Cristiano Ronaldo. Even after the final whistle, two more fans attempted to get close to the football icon.

Cristiano Ronaldo, who now plays for Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia, had a memorable interaction with a young fan during the game. In the 70th minute, a boy around 10 years old managed to evade security and reach the pitch. Ronaldo smiled and posed for a selfie with the boy, who was visibly thrilled. After a brief hug from Ronaldo, the boy tried to evade security but was eventually escorted off the field. As he was led away, he received pats on the head from stewards and substitutes, and waved to the cheering crowd.

Fifteen minutes later, a teenage boy attempted a similar stunt. Unlike the first encounter, Ronaldo waved him away, and the boy was quickly apprehended by security. Both incidents caused brief delays in the match as German referee Felix Zwayer paused the game until the pitch was cleared.

The disruptions didn't end there. In stoppage time, two adult males also ran onto the pitch aiming to get close to Ronaldo with their phones. They were swiftly intercepted by security before reaching the Portuguese captain.

Following the match, two more fans managed to get onto the pitch for a final attempt to meet Ronaldo, although this time they did not interrupt the game.

These incidents have prompted UEFA to launch a disciplinary investigation into the security arrangements at the stadium. This venue is set to host Germany’s round-of-16 fixture and a semifinal later in the tournament, making security a top priority.

Despite the interruptions, Portugal's victory and Ronaldo's interactions with fans added a unique flavor to the match, showcasing the enduring popularity and influence of one of football's greatest stars.
