Focus on Ravindra Jadeja’s replacement during upcoming T20I series against Australia | INDvAUS

Xtra Time Web Desk: The main focus for the Indian team management in the upcoming three match T20I series against Australia will be to find a suitable replacement for Ravindra Jadeja. The all rounder we all know is ruled out of the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022. It is no doubt a huge setback for the Indian team as Jadeja established himself as a vital cog in Indian team because of his all-round ability.

The India team management will to have find an able replacement for Jadeja in the upcoming six T20Is against Australia and South Africa before they travel Down Under for the T20 World Cup. Head Coach Rahul Dravid and Captain Rohit Sharma do have several options at their disposal in the likes of Deepak Hooda, Axar Patel and Ravichandran Ashwin.

The first option will be to try out Axar Patel who can be a like-for-like replacement for Ravindra Jadeja. Axar can chip in with the bat lower down the order and can be useful as a spinner on big Australian ground. But the only problem with the left arm spinner is he cannot be tried up the order and is not a competent batter like Jadeja.

The second option which the Indian team management can try is to play Deepak Hooda. He has proved his all-round capability in recent T20I matches for India. The team management can be flexible by promoting him up the order or he can be sent at No 7 as he was tried in recently concluded Asia Cup 2022 in Dubai.

The third option that the think tank can try out is to play Ravichandran Ashwin. The experienced off spinner can play the long handle and has shown the ability to improvise as well. With the likes of Harshal Patel and Bhuvneshwar Kumar providing bating depth, the Ashwin experiment could be given a shot.
