FIFA World Cup 2022: Romelu Lukaku turns villain as Belgium fail to win against Croatia; Red Devils knocked out from group stages

Xtra Time Web Desk: Belgium were knocked out from the group stages of the FIFA World Cup 2022 after failing to win their final Group F clash against Croatia at Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium on Thursday. Croatia, who were the runners-up of last World Cup cruised into the Round of 16.

Belgium, ranked second in the world and who came third at the last World Cup, are knocked out of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Romelu Lukaku turned villain for the Red Devils as he squandered three golden opportunities to put his team into the lead. For only the second time since 1998, the Red Devils haven’t got out of their group.

In another Group F fixture at the Al Thumama Stadium Morocco defeated Canada 2-1 to go through to the next stages as group leaders. Hakim Ziyech (4′), Y En-Nesyri (23′) were on targets for the African nation while N Aguerd (40′) scored am own goal.

Morocco will play the runners-up in Group E in the last 16 while Croatia will draw the winners of Group E in pre-quarter finals.
