FIFA World Cup 2022: Neymar Jr. to miss Brazil’s next group league fixture against Switzerland due to an ankle injury

Xtra Time Web Desk: In what comes as a setback, Neymar Jr will miss Brazil’s next group league fixture against Switzerland on Monday. There are also doubts about his participation in remaining group stage matches after he suffered an ankle ligament damage during Brazil’s opening game against Serbia, according to the team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar.

The Paris Saint-Germain forward was seen with a swollen ankle after being substituted during the 2-0 win against Serbia.  He had to be substituted by Coach Tite shortly after Richarlison scored the second goal.

The 30-year-old Neymar has a history of getting injured in FIFA World Cups. He was also hurt at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, when his tournament ended with a back injury in the quarter-finals against Colombia. He had to be taken off the field on a stretcher, and Brazil ended up losing to Germany 7-1 in the semi-finals.
