Xtra Time Web Desk: The ongoing FIFA World Cup 2022 has truly been a tournament of upsets as World Ranked No 2 Belgium suffered a shocking 0-2 loss against Morocco in Group F fixture at Al Thumama Stadium on Sunday. A Sabiri (73′) and Z Aboukhlal (90+2’) were on target for the African nation. It was only the third World Cup win for Morocco.

Abdelhamid Sabiri’s free-kick found the net via Saiss from an impressively tight angle in the 73rd minute, beating Thibaut Courtois at his near post, before Aboukhlal converted Hakim Ziyech’s delivery to seal a momentous win in second-half stoppage time.

Morocco join Saudi Arabia and Japan, the conquerors of Argentina and Germany respectively, in upsetting the odds to stun opponents who, traditionally, have enjoyed long-established success on the world stage.

In another Group F fixture Croatia come from behind to win 2-1 against Canada. Andrej Kramaric scored a brace (36’ & 70’) along with strikes from Marko Livaja (44’) and substitute Lovro Majer (90’+4’). Alphonso Davies scored Canada’s first ever World Cup goal, but they crash out of the tournament.

Morocco and Croatia are both now on 4 points followed by Red Devils with 3 points. Belgium will now need to beat Croatia in their last Group F fixture to progress to the last 16. Morocco face Canada in their final outing on Thursday.
