Xtra Time Web Desk: Vincent Aboubakar scored a late winner (92’) for Cameroon as they registered a memorable 1-0 win over Brazil in FIFA World Cup 2022 Group G clash at the Lusail Iconic Stadium on Friday night. The Cameroon captain was sent off for his celebrations in the wake of his late winner. The Indomitable Lions became the first African nation to win against Brazil in the history of FIFA World Cup.

The result was not enough for Rigobert Song’s side though to make it to last 16 as Brazil held onto top spot in group and will face South Korea in next round on Monday.

Brazil coach Tite made nine changes with qualification already secured. Dani Alves captained the side, while Fred and Militao were the only players to keep their places. Despite fielding a second-string side, the Selecao kept creating opportunities to score.

Cameroon goalkeeper Devis Epassy was rightly chosen as the Man of the Match as he saved several attempts from Brazil to score.

In another Group G fixture Switzerland beat Serbia 3-2 at Stadium 974 to finish second in Group G. Xherdan Shaqiri (20’) put Switzerland ahead but goals from Aleksandar Mitrovic (26’) and Dusan Vlahovic (35’) saw Serbia take the lead. Breel Embolo (44’) restored parity for the Swiss in final minute of an epic first half before Remo Freuler (48’) scored the winner at the start of second half.

Switzerland will meet Portugal in Round 16 on Tuesday.
