Kolkata: The Mohun Bagan team will leave for Bhubaneswar day after tomorrow to play in the upcoming Fed Cup.

Though the venue is Cuttack and the games are scheduled to be played in the Barabati Stadium, the Green and Maroon team would however stay in the city of Bhubaneswar and would travel to Cuttack to play the matches.

The Kolkata side will have their last practice session in their home ground before flying away for the Fed Cup.

Mohun Bagan has their first match in the Fed Cup against DSK Shivajians on the 8th of May.

The Mariners are pooled in Group B where they have Bangaluru FC, Shillong Lajong FC and DSK shivajians.

The twelve games of the Fed Cup will be played out in a period of six days while both semi-finals are scheduled to be played out on Sunday 14th May.

Mohun Bagan played their last game yesterday in an AFC Cup match against Mazia from Maldives were they were thrashed 5-2 by the hosts.

The Haitian Sony Norde who didn’t travel with the squad to Maldives on account of suffering a knee injury in his last I-League match was present in today’s practice session.

“Every game of the Fed Cup is a final match as it is a knock out tournament but losing by 5 goals won’t affect our Fed Cup campaign as both the tournaments are of different formats.” said Sony.

Bagan coach Sanjoy Sen who also didn’t travel to Maldives was present in the training session today. He however too agrees with Norde by saying that since both AFC Cup and Fed Cup are of different formats the five goal defeat will not bother the team.

“Those who are comparing about our five goal loss should also criticize other teams when they lose. Even great teams like Barcelona face similar defeats but no one speaks about that” rebuked Sen.
