Exclusive: I-League season comes to an end for Kromah despite signing for Punjab FC

Suman Chakraborty: Fortune is not at all going in favour of Liberian forward Ansumana Kromah. Despite signing for Hero I-League side Punjab FC, the forward won’t be able to play anymore in the remaining part of the season.

Kromah had flown to Imphal and signed for Punjab FC this morning. He was given the jersey and scarf as well. The photoshoot was completed too. But then The AIFF came up with a late protocol and thus the man who just got released by East Bengal, will have to come back to Kolkata without playing a single game for Punjab FC.

Kromah told xtratime.in, “In the late evening The AIFF said that they won’t allow a player to play for three different Indian clubs in a season. Neither I, nor my club knew it. Punjab officials still tried their best but unfortunately nothing happened.” He continued, “Peerless was not an I-League club, but still I don’t know what was wrong. I am disappointed. Will fly back to Kolkata tomorrow. My season is over. Sad but true.”
