Former East Bengal star joins NorthEast United

XtraTime Web Desk: The team representing the ‘seven sisters’ of India, NorthEast United have roped in former East Bengal star defender, Gurwinder Singh.



Gurwinder an experienced campaigner for the Red and Gold brigade has appeared over 150 league matches over a period of 8 years. Gurwinder left the club after the end of the 2017-18 season, where the ‘Bangals’ secured a 4th place in the I-League and finishing second in the inaugural Indian Super Cup. With his big physical presence and remarkable tackling prowess, Gurwinder has always been one of the key players in which ever team he has played. The JCT graduate have been capped 10 times by the national team scoring once.




Apart from the Kolkata outfit, Singh has already has an ISL stint in his kitty, with two-time runners-up, Kerala Blasters, where he has played a big part in both the times they finished second.. His club accolades includes the Federation Cup, IFA Shield, the then Indian Super Cup and the Calcutta Football League 8 consecutive times in a row.

The NorthEast defense will surely be benefited by his expertise and will be a perfect compliment to the likes of key players TP Rehenesh, Seityasen Singh and Rowlin Borges.
