Xtra Time Web Desk: Former Australian captain Michael Clarke heaped loads of praises on Indian captain Rohit Sharma. Rohit’s captaincy in recent times has come under a lot of criticism especially after the loss in the recently concluded ICC World Test Championship Final against Australia at the Oval.

In an exclusive interview with RevSportz , Clarke said, “I would be keeping faith with Rohit. I think he is a very good captain. I like his aggressive approach he looks to be as positive as he can be. He has had a lot of success as a leader. Look at his IPL record for Mumbai Indians. Just because India did not win the Test Championship does not mean Rohit is not the right guy to lead India.”

Clarke added, “The fact that India qualified again, they are the only team to make consecutive finals, says a lot about how they have played their Test cricket over the past years. It is also a very important time for stability with the one-day World Cup right around the corner.”

The former Australia captain also feels Rohit should continue to lead India as the 50-over World Cup is just around the corner.

Rohit’s batting form has dipped a little in recent times. He last scored a brilliant hundred in Border Gavaskar Trophy, underlying his value as an opener. According to Clarke. “He has done well as a batter as well. Think of the hundred in the last series. Losing a one-off final does not make him a bad captain and nor does it make India a bad team.”

He added, “To make consecutive finals is not easy. What it means is that India was the only team to play consistently well over a period of four years. To do so in Test cricket is commendable, and I would urge you to look at that as well before making any kind of judgment call.”
