EPL: Mohammed Salah and company won big, Manchester City beat Southampton

XtraTime Web Desk – Many Football expert thought during the initial stages of the Premier League that Liverpool might not actually do well in the tournament. Specially when their star defender, Virgil Van Dijk suffered a big injury.

Till now, players like Thiago, Jota, Gomez, Milner, Shaqiri are out injured. Yet, Liverpool are dominating all the other teams they play and making them realise, they are no problem without their star players.

On Sunday, they faced Crystal Palace in an away fixture. To everyone’s surprise, Mohammed Salah was in the bench as Jurgen Klopp played Takumi Minamino in place of him. He paid for the faith his manager kept on him as Japanese scored in the 3rd minute of the match. Liverpool kept on going Sadio Mane scored in the 35th minute and Roberto Firmino in the 44th minute. The half ended as Liverpool were leading 3-0.

Their total domination continued in the second half as well. Jordan Handerson started the scoring in this half, as the captain scored in the 52nd minute. The Egyptian, Mohammed Salah was finally brought into the game as he replaced Mane just before the hour mark. He proved his presence in just few minutes as Roberto Firmino scored in the 68th minute from his assist. He then went on to score a brace as he put the ball behind in the 81st and 84th minute.

With this, Liverpool humiliated Crystal Palace and won the match by 7-0. They are comfortably in the top of the table with 31 points from 14 games. Currently, they are 5 points clear in the top of the table.

Unlike their character, Manchester City are finding it difficult to score in this season. The team who used to score at least 2-3 goals in every match, is winning by a very narrow margin but keeping themselves alive in the league. Raheem Sterling scored in the 16th minute from Kevin De Bruyne’s assist and that’s that for City. Southampton is playing amazing football in this season and maybe with a bit of luck they could’ve drawn this game but nevertheless, City won 1-0 and most importantly got all three points. Currently standing at 6th position, City gathered 23 points from 13 games. On the other hand, Southampton has 24 points from 13 games and is on the 5th position of the table.

In other matches, Arsenal once again failed to win. Everton beat them 2-1 and the misery continues for the club. They now have 14 points from 14 games and is at the 15th place of table. Everton however climbed to the second spot with 26 points from 14 games.

Newcastle United drew 1-1 with Fulham.
