EPL: Manchester United destroyed Leeds while Spurs lose to Leicester City
XtraTime Web Desk - What a comeback for Manchester United in the Premier League. After some disappointing performances, they were in the 12th-13th position in the early stages in of the Premier League but now with few wins, Manu are one of the top teams of the league.
They faced Leeds on Sunday. A strong rival from the North and it was after 16 years that they are meeting again. The match started and just like that Manu took a lead of 2-0 inside 3 minutes. The scottish midfielder Scott McTominay scored twice in quick succession and get the foundation. That followed by a goal from Bruno Fernandes in the 20th minute and then a goal from Victor Lindelof in the 37th minute. It was a dream start for Manchester United as they were leading 4-0 in the 37th minute.
Marcelo Bielsa is not a kind of coach who'll sitback. He fights until the last minute and his players delivers. Liam Copper pulled one back in the 41st minute as the half ended 4-1 in Manu's favour. Things hardly changed in the second half. Manu scored again in the 66th minute as youngster Daniel James put his name from McTominay's assist. Just a few minutes later, Bruno Fernandes converted his second goal from a penalty and Leeds were down by 6 goals in 70th minute. Stuart Dallas scored one for Leeds in the 73rd minute but that's that. Leeds lose the match 6-2 and for the first time in many years Manu scored 6 or more goals in any competition.
Because of their brilliant form, Manu is now in the 3rd place of the league table with 26 from 13 games while the league leaders Liverpool has 31 from 14 games. Manu are 5 points behind but a game in hand.
Jose Mourinho and his boys lose again as Spurs lose two big games in a row. These two losses put Spurs in the backseat as they slipped from top of the table to the fifth spot. At the very end of the first half, Jamie Vardy scored from a penalty in the 49th minute that gave Leicester the lead. Toby Alderweireld scored an own goal in the 59th minute to seal Tottenham's fate.
Jose Mourinho agreed that his boys didn't play a good match. Harry Kane's off form will be a bit of concern for the Portuguese boss. Spurs are fifth in the table with 25 points from 14 games while Leicester is second in the table with 27 points from 14 games.
In other matches, Brighton drew 1-1 with Sheffield United in a match where both the teams needed a win. Specially Sheffield who's at the 20th place and is yet to win a game this season.
