England vs NZ, 2nd Test: BlackCaps register historic test series win against England at Edgbaston

Xtra Time Web Desk: New Zealand sent out a big warning to Team India ahead of the upcoming ICC World Test Championship Final following their morale boosting historic test series win over England at Edgbaston on Sunday. The BlackCaps won a test series on English soil after 22 years. It took 59 minutes on Day four of the second test at Birmingham, for the New Zealanders to clinch an eight-wicket victory chasing a target of just 38. Stand-in skipper Tom Latham and a rejuvenated Ross Taylor guided them home.
They lost Devon Conway (3) and Will Young (8) en route to the inevitable, after Trent Boult took the final wicket of Olly Stone, first ball of the day to dismiss England for 122 and complete their second innings humiliation.
Most remarkable aspect of the BlackCaps test series win was they won the Edgbaston test without their main six players captain Kane Williamson and senior swing bowler Tim Southee.
The 1-0 series win saw the Black Caps overtake India once more into No 1 on the ICC rankings, a spot they secured for the first time in January, ahead of the much awaited inaugural World Test Championship against Virat Kohli’s side in Southampton, starting Friday.
“It’s great to have that performance under the belt. The way we went about things throughout the whole four days was outstanding, with a few personnel changes through injury and resting guys [they] came out and did their roles. It was just a complete team performance,” Tom Latham said after the match.
