Xtra Time Web Desk: As expected England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have suspended fast bowler Ollie Robinson for his historical social media posts on twitter. The fast bowler will remain suspended until the time ECB finishes its investigation. Robinson will not be available for the second test against New Zealand starting on Thursday. Robinson had an outstanding debut in the first test against BlackCaps at the Lords, taking seven wickets in the match.

The tweets he posted when he was 18 and 19, which were racist and sexist in nature, resurfaced during the first day of the test and Robinson was close to tears as he issued an apology after stumps.

“Robinson will leave the England camp immediately and return to his county,” ECB said in a statement.

Robinson fronted a news conference during the first test to apologise for his historical social media posts.

“I deeply regret my actions, and I am ashamed of making such remarks,'' Robinson said in a statement he read out firstly to broadcasters and then to other media.

“I was thoughtless and irresponsible, and regardless of my state of mind at the time, my actions were inexcusable.”

The 27-year-old said: “Over the past few years, I have worked hard to turn my life around. I have considerably matured as an adult.''
