Xtra Time Web Desk: A brilliant hundred from Suryakumar Yadav went in vain as England defeated India by 17 runs in the third and final T20I at Trentbridge on Sunday. Chasing a huge target of 216, India could manage 198/9 in 20 overs. Rohit Sharma and his boys ended up winning the three match T20I series 2-1.

The hero of the match for India was undoubtedly Suryakumar Yadav. The stylish batsman played an array of shots all over the ground to take the attack to England. It was his 119-run partnership with Shreyas Iyer that kept India in the game. But despite his fantastic 55-ball 117, India failed to cross the hurdle.

Suryakumar was the only bright spot in an otherwise bad day for Indian batters. Iyer only managed 28 off 23 while Ravindra Jadeja and Dinesh Karthik both failed. With no Hardik Pandya to anchor the innings, India ran out of steam in the end, scoring just 198/9.

Earlier, opting to bat, Dawid Malan smashed 39-ball 77 while Liam Livingstone smashed 29-ball 42, helping England post 215/7, their highest T20 total against India. The batting-friendly pitch did not help Indian bowlers in absence of Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Virat Kohli failed with the bat yet again, as he scored only 11 runs.
