Kolkata: Mohun Bagan announces the name of Shankarlal Chakraborty as the team’s new head coach for the rest of the season as former head coach Sanjoy Sen stepped down yesterday after his first ever loss in the home match against Chennai City FC 2-1.
The supporters were agitated after the match as some of them spited on him and some threw stones at Sen While he was announcing his retirement.
The press release said, ” Mr. Sanjoy Sen has decided to step down as the Head Coach of Mohun Bagan senior team. He informed about his desire not to continue as the head coach to the Club management post Mohun Bagan’s 2-1 defeat in yesterday’s Hero I-League match against Chennai City FC.”
Mr. Sen “thanked the entire club management, support staffs and well wisher for their unconditional support which he had received since becoming head coach in December 2014. He wished the team all the best for the remainder of the season 2017-18”.
The club management would like to thank Mr. Sen for all the hard work he has done being in charge of the team for the past 3 years. We wish him all success for his future endeavors.”
Further the club management have decided to elevate Mr. Sankarlal Chakraborty, as the Head Coach for the remainder of the 2017-18 season. Mr. Chakraborty has been there with the team since July 2014,” the press-release ended.
