East Bengal’s Right Back Samad Badly Injured, Had 10 Stitches On His Head

Kolkata: Samad Ali Mallick, East Bengal’s promising right back got badly injured in his head today during practice at Central Park. The incident occurred when Bikash Jairu and Samad collide with each other to gather an aerial ball. Samad fell on the ground and he started bleeding on the spot. His jersey got wet with blood. He was taken immediately to a nearby nursing home by East Bengal’s medical staff. He had 10 stitches on his head. Samad was released after few hours of observation. He is at his residence taking rest. Coach Biswajit Bhattacharya spoke to him over phone and said that Samad is quite stable right now.

Meanwhile, Sehnaj Singh was absent from training today due to illness. He joined practice few days back recovering from a muscle injury which he faced during the opening match of East Bengal against Sporting Clube de Goa.

On the other hand, East Bengal’s former goalkeeper Abhijit Mondal signed the dotted lines for Mohammedan Sporting. He joined practice today and trained with the team.
