The NCA physio has to rush to Kolkata to make Shami available for the Asia Cup. Shami has been gone through various rehabilitation program under the Physio’s watchful eyes. “XTRATIME” had a chat with the speedstar regarding his fitness.

XT) Australia seemed to be a bad dream for you for the past couple of years.

Ans) No never.I got 17 wickets at the World Cup in Australian soil. Because of my fiery spell we were able to defeat Pakistan and South Africa. I still couldn’t understand how I got this injury. It was very unfortunate. I had started to get back my rhythm but all have been plagued by injury.

XT) You have spent the last six week at the NCA. How is your hamstring now?

Ans) Andrew has given me few exercises specially swimming. Swimming helps to gain the muscle strength. I have started to bowl in small line up.

XT) Team management have shown their faith on yours. Is it challenging for you to make a comeback in T20?

Ans) It is more challenging than my first appearance in the Indian team.

XT) Ravi Shastri gave you the title “Nabab of Kolkata”. What is your reaction?

Ans) Ravi bhai loved me very much. That’s why he gave me this name. For me performance is the last word.

XT) Suppose it’s India vs Pakistan in the World T20 Final. What wil be your feelings?

Ans) Eden will always have a special place in my heart. Eden gave me recognition. I have played several matches here for Bengal. Eventually my test debut was also in Eden against West Indies. If I got a chance to play in the Final at the Eden it will be a memorable moment of my cricket career.
