The Red and Golds are also believed to have finalized the signings of two more India players Jackichand Singh and David Lalrinmuana. The club has also finalized the signing of Robin Gurung. The biggest draw of the forthcoming football season will be the signing of Borges in favour of East Bengal. The ace midfielder was targeted by other Kolkata giant Mohun Bagan as well. Both the big clubs were in talks with the central midfielder. But the Goan footballer decided to sign in favour of the Red and Golds as he felt he will have more opportunities to make the starting eleven under Morgan. Another reason for him not signing for Mohun Bagan is they have in their ranks, Pronoy Halder and Bikramjit Singh who can both play in central midfield. Rowllin has been a regular in the Indian Super League (ISL) team North East United FC. He also played for Sporting Clube de Goa from 2011-16 and has 8 appearances for the country. Both Jackichand and Lalrinmuana, who ply the trade with ISL franchise Mumbai City FC were also in talks with the Red and Golds for quite some time. David played for Aizawl FC last year while Jackichand donned Salgaocar’s jersey in I League. Both of them are believed to have switched in favour of the Kolkata Football League champions. In fact all three footballers have been in and out of the Indian team under present National Coach Stephen Constantine. East Bengal has earlier finalized deals with goalkeeper T.P. Rehenesh. and Robin Gurung. The Kolkata giants have come closer to winning the I League on three occasions earlier. The last time they became the runners up was in 2014-15 season under present coach Trevor James Morgan. Meanwhile the club has decided to release assistant coach Richard Dryden. According to sources in the club, Dryden has sought a release owing to spending more time with his family.
