East Bengal should be given an opportunity in ISL: Yan Law

XtraTime Web Desk: Minerva Punjab coach Yan Law wants to see Kolkata giants East Bengal in the upcoming season of Indian Super League (ISL). The youngest coach in the history of I League during a live chat on Xtra Time Bangla said, “We will see Mohun Bagan playing in the top tier league from the upcoming season after its merger with ATK. Honestly speaking like most fans I also want East Bengal to play in the top league of the country from 2020-21 seasons.”

It is a dream for any aspiring young coach in the country to land up a coaching stint with the big two clubs of Indian football. And Yan Law is no exception. Law who played for George Telegraph in the Kolkata league has the required license to coach any I league teams. But his degree is not enough to land a coaching job with any ISL teams. The 28 year old Law is still hopeful of getting an opportunity to work as an assistant coach for any ISL teams.

The ATK Mohun Bagan management in all probability would continue with Antonio Habas who coached the Kolkata based franchise to become the ISL champions last season. It is still not sure whether ATK assistant coach last season Sanjoy Sen would be getting an extension. It will be difficult for Law to get any coaching role with ATK Mohun Bagan. And he himself believes it as well.

According to Law, “Kibu Vicuna has parted ways with Mohun Bagan to join Kerala Blasters. Sanjoy Sen still is the assistant coach of ATK. So it will be difficult for me to get an opportunity. But if East Bengal plays in the ISL and they offer me a role as assistant coach, I would be more than happy to grab it.”

In fact Sanjoy Sen also wants to see East Bengal in the ISL like Yan Law. The experienced gaffer had told Xtra Time few days back, “If East Bengal gets an opportunity to play in the ISL they will only enhance the glamour of the league. The Kolkata derby will be more entertaining.”
