The East Bengal goalkeeper showed "middle finger" to the fans yesterday and then surrounded by a huge grief of the fans. The British coach believes if Rehenesh plays on Sunday against DSK, then he might get collapsed by the pressure by the fans. Earlier, Trevor too stood by the side of Gurpreet Singh Sandhu a few years back at Kalyani. Gurpreet too showed a similar gesture to the fans after losing a game against United Sports Club. Not just Morgan, the East Bengal officials too are on their way to give Rehenesh a "memorable" punishment for his gesture. Though East Bengal official Debabrata Sarkar didn't disclose the punishment as he said, "We will collectively decide the punishment we want to give him. But we will certainly take some steps against him."
The grief has certainly made an impact on the East Bengal coach as he said, "I can understand the grief, the pain of the fans. But I will no way tolerate the gesture of the fans of spitting at me. This is never acceptable."
Though Haitian Wedson Anselme, who came with the coach in the pre-match press conference, said, "This grievance by the fans will motivate us to play better. This is not the first time I have seen such thing in my playing career. So we have to move on. "
But a poor display on the field by East Bengal meant their aspirations of ending a barren run stretching over a decade in search of league glory virtually went up in smoke.
Their case was compounded further as Trinidad & Tobago forward Willis Plaza was given marching orders in the second half for a needless challenge on Bagan centre-back Anas Edathodika. Plaza will thus miss their engagement with Shivajians.
Not just the pressure by the fans, it is heard that the officials have stopped the payment of the players as well. Though East Bengal official Debabrata Sarkar said, "No, actually there is no one to sign the cheques of the players. It will be sorted out shortly."
Following the sacking of assistant coach Warren Hackett,  Morgan was left in the lurch about his future and faithfuls of the club let their emotions reach boiling point with slogans of `Go Back Morgan` and `Go Back Rehenesh` being heard. Goalkeeper T.P. Rehenesh has had a lean patch too.
Coming to Shivajians, the Pune based side did not restart its campaign after the break on a high, losing 2-3 to Shillong Lajong at home.
The eighth-placed side has been patchy all season winning just three games and facing defeat in seven.
The last time the two sides met in Pune, East Bengal won 2-1 with goals from Wedson Anselme and Willis Plaza.
