Durban Test , Day 5 : England make short work of Proteas

England-win-Durban-testDurban , December 30 : England needed just 100 minutes of the final day to take six wickets for 38 runs and send the Castle Lager Proteas plummeting to a 241-run defeat in the first Sunfoil Test match at Sahara Stadium Kingsmead on Wednesday.

There was very little resistance after AB de Villiers fell leg before wicket to Moeen Ali to a delivery that turned and kept low off  the third ball of the day and the same bowler accounted for Temba Bavuma a further six deliveries later.

It left JP Duminy to rally what support he could around him and he finished unbeaten on 26 (59 balls, 5 fours).

The bowling honours were shared by Steve Finn (4/42) and Moeen Ali (3/47).

Moeen Ali was named Sunfoil Man of the Match for his 7 wickets.

Meanwhile , Cricket South Africa (CSA) national selectors today added The Unlimited Titans duo of Quinton de Kock and Chris Morris to the Castle Lager Proteas squad for the second Sunfoil Test match against England, starting at PPC Newlands on Saturday.

“Following our performance and injuries in the first Test, we have recognised the need to bolster the squad,” said Linda Zondi, CSA Convener of Selectors.

“This will provide us with more selection options for the second Test match at Newlands,” added Zondi.

De Kock scored a century for the Titans in their recent Sunfoil Series clash against the Cape Cobras while Morris made 86 runs in his only innings and took 3 wickets.
