Xtra Time Web Desk: Popular Fantasy Gaming platform Dream11 is set to become the new jersey sponsor for the Indian cricket team, replacing Byju's. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had recently invited tenders for the jersey sponsorship, and Dream11 has reportedly secured the deal. Byju's had an optional agreement with the BCCI until November but decided to exit the contract in March. Since then, the Indian cricket team has been without a jersey sponsor, even during the recent World Test Championship final.

Under the previous sponsorship deal with Byju's, the BCCI earned approximately Rs 5.5 crore for each bilateral fixture and around Rs 1.7 crore for ICC games due to logo positioning. The financial details of the new deal with Dream11 are likely to be lower than what the BCCI earned from Byju's.

Experts following the developments closely have suggested that there was limited interest in the sponsorship, even after the BCCI lowered the base price. The BCCI had restricted certain brand categories from participating in the process, but an exception was made for "Fantasy Sports Gaming," allowing Dream11 to enter the bidding process.

Dream11's partnership with the Indian cricket team as the jersey sponsor will provide increased visibility for the fantasy gaming platform. This move highlights the growing influence and popularity of online gaming platforms in India, as well as their interest in associating with high-profile sports teams and events.
