Dhoni’s presence will give Chennai Super Kings an edge in IPL 2023 final, says ex-India cricketer

Xtra Time Web Desk: Former India opener WV Raman feel MS Dhoni’s presence will give Chennai Super Kings an edge in the IPL 2023 final to be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium on May 28. The four-time former IPL champions will take on the winner of Qualifier 2 between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans. According to Raman, Dhoni keeps it simple and is unfazed about things happening around.

“He (Dhoni) keeps it simple. What he does is he does not think about who is not there. Chennai Super Kings had a few injury concerns this season but he was unfazed about it. What he does extraordinarily well is he tries to get the best out of whoever is available and that is the hallmark of a great captain. He makes good use of his resources and get the results. I feel his presence will definitely give Chennai an edge in the final,” Raman said.

There have been some impressive performances from youngsters like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jitesh Sharma and others. According to Raman, it proves India has enormous talent.

“A lot of youngsters did well. We have seen fantastic performances from them which means India has enormous talent and they are already ready to play for India maybe starting from the next cycle of WTC and in the future World Cups,” said Raman

“Yashasvi has been in terrific form not only in the current IPL but he has been in good form for his state side and red ball cricket. He has performed over a period of last two seasons which proves that he has got the hunger and constantly learning. Adopted well,”

“Ruturaj is another cricketer who has been fantastic and doing well. He did not get enough chances but I am sure he will push his way into the Indian side.”

“Jitesh Sharma has shown terrific temperament and ability to play according to the situation in the role he has been assigned by his franchise. With Rishabh Pant out with an injury he is someone who can be looked at as he can really bat well which can work in his advantage.”

Raman was also very impressed with Rinku Singh and feels he should be given a chance in the Indian T20I squad keeping in mind the T20 World Cup in 2024.

“He will always be in the radar of the selectors. It all depend on the kind of role they want to give him. Rinku Singh will be one name that will be ringing the bell in the heads of every selector,” said Raman.
