Deepak Chahar makes stunning comeback from injury; picks 3 wickets to rattle Zimbabwe top order | ZIMvIND

Xtra Time Web Desk: A fit-again Deepak Chahar bowled an excellent opening spell on his return to international cricket after 6 months. The bowling all-rounder rattled Zimbabwe opening order with new ball to stage a stunning comeback.

Returning to India colours for the first time in 6 months, Chahar broke the back of Zimbabwe’s top order with three wickets to put India on top in the first ODI at Harare Sports Club on Thursday.

Making a return after a long injury lay-off, Deepak Chahar showcased his full repertoire of skills in a deadly new ball spell. He foxed the Zimbabwean batters with his great control on line and length, using the swinging conditions to good effect.

Chahar bowled a peach to dismiss the in-from Innocent Kaia and followed it up with the dismissals of Tadiwansahse Marumani and Wessely Madhevere in a space of four balls. The Chennai Super Kings all-rounder sent down seven overs in his first spell, giving away 27 runs and picking 3 wickets.

The most heartening sight for the selectors and team management was how he bowled in rhythm, putting behind any discomfort. He was not required to finish his quota of overs as Zimbabwe were bowled out for 189 runs off 40.3 overs.
