Deepak Chahar decides against travelling to South Africa for this reason | SAvsIND

Xtra Time Web Desk: Team India all-rounder Deepak Chahar has decided not to travel to South Africa as his father is hospitalized after suffering brain stroke. Deepak was picked in the white ball squads for the upcoming series against Proteas. The cricketer from Rajasthan had to pull out of the final T20I against Australia at Chinnaswamy Stadium to be beside his father. Prioritizing family over cricket, Deepak decided to stay by his father until his condition improves.

According to Deepak, his father is everything for him. His father had a huge contribution for what he is today. So, it is difficult for him to leave his father in this condition and go to South Africa. The pacer assured that he had communicated with coach Rahul Dravid and the selectors, expressing his commitment to the team once his father’s health allows.

On being asked about his return to the team for the South Africa tour, Chahar emphasized that it solely depends on his father’s health. For Deepak, significance of family bonds in the face of personal and professional commitments is much more important.

Deepak Chahar’s decision stands as a poignant reminder that beyond the boundaries of the cricket field, players are individuals with families and responsibilities.
