David Miller, Aiden Markram slam fifties as South Africa beat India by five wickets at Perth stadium | T20 World Cup 2022

Xtra Time Web Desk: Fifties from David Miller and Aiden Markram handed South Africa five-wicket win over India in Super-12 clash of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022 at the Perth stadium on Sunday. Chasing a modest 134 to win, the Proteas sealed the victory in the final over of the match. For India, Suryakumar Yadav scored 68 off 48 balls to take India to 133/9.

With this win, South Africa is at top of the table with five points and two wins in three matches. India is in the second position with four points and two wins in three.

Chasing 134, South Africa had a dreadful start as they lost both Quinton de Kock (1) and Rilee Rossouw (0) to pacer Arshdeep Singh with the score 3/2. To make matters worse for the Proteas, captain Temba Bavuma (10) was dismissed by Mohammad Shami to see the score 24/3 in 5.4 overs.

Aiden Markram (52 off 41) and David Miller (59 off 46) then stitched a match winning partnership of 76 runs.

Arshdeep Singh finished as the top bowler for India, taking 2/29. Pandya, Shami and Ashwin got a wicket each. 

Earlier, Proteas pacer Lungi Ngidi spit fire with the ball to restrict India to a score of 133/9. Ngidi’s spell read 4-0-29-4. He was given support by Wayne Parnell who took 3 wickets for 15 runs.

The Men in Blue will next take on Bangladesh in Adelaide on Wednesday.
