Xtra Time Web Desk: In what comes as big setback for Indian women’s hockey team, midfielder Navjot Kaur has tested positive for Covid-19 and has been asked to fly back home. She was in isolation for last two days. Navjot will be replaced by Sonika.

Navjot is a member of the silver-winning team at the Asian Games in Jakarta and bronze winner from Incheon in 2014.

Earlier in the week, two Indian women cricketers Pooja Vastrakar and S Meghana tested positive for Covid-19 and were asked to isolate in Bengaluru. Meghana has already joined the team and Pooja is likely to join before the third game against Barbados on August 3.

Meanwhile, India opened their campaign with a 5-0 win over Ghana on Friday.

The Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham is the first multi-discipline event since the start of the pandemic to be held without major COVID-19 restrictions.
