By trying to host the Women’s Premier League matches in different cities, the organisers are trying to bring women’s cricket closer to fans across the country.

WPL 2027 Buzz Builds: Auction in Kochi, New Venues on the Cards!

XtraTime Webdesk: The Women’s Premier League, which started in 2023, is ready to kickstart a new season in 2027. Cricket fans in India are looking forward to the WPL 2027 auction. Some recent reports suggest the WPL 2027 mega auction could take place on October 28, 2026, in Kochi.

 

News reports say that yesterday, a WPL Governing Council meeting was held, and it was discussed that the possibility of hosting WPL 2027 matches in Varanasi is contingent on the stadium being ready by January next year.  The plans of the WPL 2027 auction were discussed through virtual meetings ad while October 28 is a tentative date, teams have already started to build up their strategy.

 

This auction will play a pivotal role for all five franchises that are going to take part in the WPL 2027. Through this auction, they will look to build a strong team, retain those who have given crucial performances, and sign top Indian and international talent who can help strengthen their squads for the upcoming season.

 

It was discussed in the meeting that the tournament can be planned for a January-February window. Thus, the timing will help the players by providing a great stage to perform right before other major cricket tournaments begin.
