Xtra Time Web Desk: The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) on Sunday got its senior Bengal cricketers vaccinated. CAB has tied up with Apollo Hospitals and AMRI Hospitals to get the Bengal Players vaccinated.
Earlier the CAB had started with the Vaccination Drive with those who are above the age of 45 years and had got those associated with CAB like umpires, scorers, observers, etc vaccinated.
“Today is Jagmohan Dalmiya’s 81st Birthday. It is a well known fact that Mr Dalmiya always had the welfare of the cricketers as his priority. Therefore, we thought it is a befitting way of giving him a tribute by commencing the vaccination drive for the Bengal Players today, on his birthday. Lot of Bengal Players in different age group categories have started getting vaccinated today,” said CAB President Avishek Dalmiya.
The former ICC and BCCI chief, Mr Dalmiya was a players’ administrator. He was instrumental in initiating the pension scheme for cricketers among other benevolent measures. He had also started an eye donation movement called eradication of blindness.
“We have tied up with Apollo and AMRI Hospitals for this second phase of vaccination drive. 120 persons at each of the centres would be provided with the vaccines. This time, the focus is more on players and support staffs falling in the 18-45 age bracket” said Snehasish Ganguly, Hony. Secretary, CAB.
The covishield jabs are being provided at Apollo Hospitals, while Covaxin as well as Covishield vaccines are being provided at AMRI Hospitals and the same would continue to be given in the following week.
