XtraTime Web Desk: Xtra Time Web Desk: Premier League clubs have been allowed to play friendlies ahead of season restart on June 17. The Premier League along with other top European leagues was suspended because of the coronavirus pandemic. The Premier League clubs have expressed their desire to play friendly games so as to step up their preparation before the restart of the season. The friendly matches can be played either in their own stadiums or training grounds.


As per reports the friendly matches will be staged as per the guidelines suggested by the Premier League. The clubs have been instructed not to travel more than 90 minutes from their home grounds. Few clubs like Newcastle and Norwich may be allowed to travel a little longer considering they are based too far away from others. The venues have to be fully sanitized before the friendly games are staged. There has to sufficient parking plans for the players and support staffs to park their cars. This is in accordance with maintaining social distancing at all times so that all unnecessary congestion is eliminated. Furthermore, players will only be allowed to take part in games if recent Covid-19 tests have turned out negative.


It is learnt few Championship sides have already been contacted by the Premier League teams to play friendlies among themselves so as to prepare well in time for the restart of the season.
