The 10th Confederation Cup is being held in Russia from 17th June to 2nd July this year. This is the prelude to the 2018 FIFA World Cup. It is a quadrennial international men’s football tournament organised by FIFA.
The teams which qualified this year for the Confederations Cup are the host nation Russia, the last World Cup winners Germany, the AFC Asian cup winners Australia, the Copa America cup winners Chile, the CONCACAF Gold cup champions Mexico, the OFC Nations cup winners New Zealand. Portugal who defeated France in Euro Cup and the last nation is Cameroon, the champions of African Nations Cup. These eight teams are divided into two groups and the champions and the runners of each group will play against the runners and champions of the other group to qualify for the final.

Watching these top class players competing against each other is great treat to watch. As an ardent football fan and a budding footballer it is a great experience to watch them and learn new innovative football skills. Their movements, their passing, their tactics encouraged me to a great extent. At the same time it is painful for me that our country has not come upto to the mark to play international level. But I hope the disappointment will soon be over. Recently some Indian players like Sunil Chhetri, Gurpreet Singh Sandhu are getting exposure to the international football by playing in various European clubs. Hopefully one day India will also become the FIFA World Cup champions.
One of the finest team in this tournament is Portugal whom I support whole heartedly. Their team is balanced and are full of young talents and also one of the world’s best player Cristiano Ronaldo plays for this nation. I love his dribbling, passing and shooting to a great extent and hope that one day I will become like him. He is also one of the handsome player in the present world. Another team in this tournament which is highly attractive is Germany. I love their playing style because they first defend themselves and score goals keeping their house intact. I also love the tattoos of the German players. They look immensely good on their body.

The four teams which qualified for the semi final are Portugal, Germany, Chile and Mexico. I hope Portugal and Germany play in the finals, then it will be a very interesting final to watch. After confederations cup ends, I will be eagerly waiting for the most awaited event of the world and that is the FIFA World Cup 2018.
