Internet Desk: Chennai City FC, the new entrant in the forthcoming I-League season, has already started planning in the right earnest. The Chennai-based club may spring up a surprise by entering into a tie-up with Manchester based club Bury FC.

It is the same club for which Indian football icon Bhaichung Bhutia played in 1999-2002. Bury FC now plays in League One. In a bid to develop its grassroots football project and academy, the Chennai-based club is mulling the idea of entering into a tie-up with Bury.

According to Rohit Ramesh, the owner of the club, “We are willing to go for a tie up with them as far as our grassroots development program and our academy team are concerned. Even though they play in the third tier of the English football system, they have a good infrastructure. So we approached them with the idea of the tie-up and they reciprocated with equal interest. As soon as we strike a deal, we will make an announcement.”

Chennai City FC will play its home matches in I-League at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium (popularly known as Marina Arena). The club management is already in talks with a few local players who have the experience of playing in I-league. Players like N Mohanraj, D Ravanan, and Dhanpal Ganesh has already been approached. The officials are also in talks with a few foreign players now plying their trade in Indian Super League (ISL).

Chennai City FC has also named Robin Charles Raja as their coach. Robin who has recently completed AFC A License coaching has a thorough knowledge and experience in local football. But there is a small problem with regard to his appointment. Robin has to leave his job with Customs which he has verbally agreed with the club officials.

The club will soon release its official jersey and logo.
