Opener Shikhar Dhawan registered a brilliant century and helped his team cross the 300 run mark. Sri Lanka after winning the toss put India to bat first in overcast conditions, Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan put up brilliant performances and registered their 10th 100+ run stand. Rohit Sharma played another brilliant innings when he scored 78 runs with 3 huge sixes. On the other hand Dhawan too played some exquisite shots and scored a brilliant ton of 125 runs which consisted of 15 boundaries. Skipper Virat Kohli scored a duck, his first duck since 2014. India at that time were 139-2. Yuvraj Singh had an off day when he was dismissed for just 7 runs. Former Indian Dhoni came to the crease and kept the runs going when he played a brilliant innings of 63 runs with 2 huge sixes. Hardik Pandeya failed to score when he was dismissed after scoring 9 runs only. Middle-order batsman Kedar Yadav ended India’s innings on a high note after he quick fired a 25 from 13 deliveries. At the end of the innings India had amassed a huge score of 321 for the loss of 6 wickets. Sri Lanka bowlers had to endure a lot of bashing after the Indian batsmen hit them hard. Lasith Malinga was the only bowlers who took 2 wickets while others managed 1 each. Sri Lanka have a target of 322 to score at 6.44 runs per over.
