Champions League: Gnabry double sends Bayern past Lyon into the final

XtraTime Web Desk: Two goals in the first-half of the game by Serge Gnabry, helped German football giants Bayern Munich reach their first UEFA Champions League final since 2013 after they beat Olympique Lyonnais (Lyon) 3-0 on Thursday.

Just a moment after Karl Toko Ekambi had hit the post for underdogs Lyon, Gnabry unleashed a thunderbolt of an effort past a stranded Anthony Lopes from 20 yards to open the scoring 18 minutes in.

Gnabry was in on a second goal six minutes later following a half-volley from the far side outside the box, but Lyon goalkeeper Anthony Lopes got down to smother.

The former Arsenal man eventually netted a second on 33 minutes after tapping in a rebound from Lopes who could only spill Robert Lewandowski’s attempt after some good work by Ivan Perisic.

Bayern kicked off the second half with a change, as Jerome Boateng made way for Niklas Sule while Lyon introduced Thiago Mendes for Bruno Guimaraes.

The Ligue 1 side set off on the front on 56 minutes as Marcelo rose to flick a header towards target following a corner-kick, but Bayern shot-stopper Manuel Neuer gathered.

Dembele, who put City to the sword after entering from the bench, replaced Memphis Depay after two minutes as Lyon looked for a bit of magic before Bayern’s Phillipe Coutinho had a goal disallowed in the final 10 minutes.

Bayern put the French side out of sight two minutes from time when Lewandowski met Joshua Kimmich’s cross to head beyond Lopes and set up a final with PSG this Sunday.
