Chahar, Gill-Dhawan opening partnership help India thrash Zimbabwe by 10 wickets; take 1-0 lead in series

Xtra Time Web Desk: Deepak Chahar announced his return to international cricket after being out for almost six wickets as India thrashed Zimbabwe by 10 wickets. The opening partnership of Shikhar Dhawan and Shubman Gill stitched an unbeaten 192 runs partnership as the visitors successfully chased 189 runs with 19 overs to spare. The win gives KL Rahul and his boys 1-0 lead in three match ODI series.

Set a small target of 190, openers Shikhar Dhawan and Shubman Gill blazed their way to an unbeaten 192 runs partnership. Dhawan remained not out on 81 off 113 balls while Gill smashed 82 not out off 72 balls. Dhawan’s knock included 9 boundaries. Gill was the more aggressive of the two as he smashed 10 fours and 1 six.

Earlier in the day, it was Deepak Chahar who stole the show. Making a comeback to international cricket after a break, Chahar took 3/27 in his first spell of 7 overs, to rattle the Zimbabwe top order. Axar Patel too took 3 wickets for the Men in Blue.

The second ODI will be played at the same venue on Saturday.
