SKY, who celebrates his 32nd birthday on Wednesday, will have to play a big role if India has to do well in the upcoming series against world champions Australia and South Africa at home. But most importantly his role during T20 World Cup will be key to Team India’s success. Can he be the game changer for Rohit Sharma’s team, only time will tell. But he has the potentiality to be one.
The most glaring aspect is Suryakumar’s inconsistent form. At the start of the Asia Cup, Yadav was ranked number 2 in the T20I rankings. But a horrible tournament saw him slip in the rankings to number 3.
India’s Mr 360 could score only one 50-plus score against Hong Kong and struggled against other big teams. The right-hand batter has a chance to make amends in the next T20 series against Australia.
SKY is the only Indian batter to boast a strike rate of 170 plus which is fourth among the contemporary batters. In the 28 T20Is, Yadav has scored 811 runs at an average of 37. In fact, Surya’s knock of 117 (55) is also the second highest score by an Indian batter in a T20I outside India.
