Can Cummins & co bounce back like India did in 2020-21 series Down Under? Rohit Sharma gives epic reply to Australian journo

Xtra Time Web Desk: Team India put up a commendable performance beating Australia by an innings and 123 runs in the first test at Nagpur. The visitors were bowled out for a paltry 91 runs in the second innings, their lowest against India. Australian batters were all at sea against the spin of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja.

Two years back, Ajinkya Rahane led Indian team staged an incredible comeback to win the test series 2-1 after being bundled out for 36 all out in the Pink Ball Test at Adelaide Oval. Can the visitors draw inspiration from what India did at their backyard in 2020-21 test series.

Indian captain was completely taken aback when he was asked this question by an Australian journalist during his post-match conference in Nagpur on Saturday.

Admitting that he does expect a fightback from the Australian team, Rohit said, “Good one. Australia is always a good team. The good thing about this team is we don’t think about what has happened in the past. It’s important to stay in the present. Lot of the guys who played in that series are not here for Australia. For us as well, a few guys are missing,”

He added, “Australia love playing Test cricket. They pride themselves in coming out and representing their country. We are quite aware of them bouncing back. We are pretty much aware of what they can do as a team. By no means are we ruling them out. We want to play the cricket that we played in this game.”
