CAB officially cancels 31st July AGM, calls Working Committee meeting on Monday

Kolkata: CAB today officially announced the cancelation of their Annual General Meeting 2015-16. They sent the information to their 121 affiliated units. On Monday the Working Committee meeting will be held to decide over the date of the Special General Meeting.

It was expected that CAB will cancel their AGM  which was supposed to be held on 31st July. Today CAB President Sourav Ganguly called a meeting to officially announce the cancellation. Joint secretaries of CAB Subir Ganguly and Avishek Dalmiya, treasurer Biswarup Dey and BCCI lawyer Usha Nath Banerjee were present in the meeting apart from the President. “At present we have only two days in hand before the nomination filing. We had to take this quick decision thinking over that”, declared president Sourav Ganguly.

Sourav Ganguly was supposed to be in Mumbai  at the Cricket centre on Monday to discuss the legal points of the issue rose after the verdict of last Monday. But now he will head the Working Committee meeting of CAB. CAB will take their further decision after the Monday’s meeting. According to sources, the announcement of Special General Meeting will be announced following that meeting. The SGM will approve the new constitution and then the new constitution will be send to the Society Registration Act Committee to get the approval.

However, today lawyer Usha Nath Banerjee said the constitution change is a matter of discussion. “Constitution amendment may be subjected. We will discuss over it, that there should not be any violation of Lodha Committee recommendation. Our fist issue was to cancel the AGM. Then will take prior decision according to recommendation and discussing with BCCI”, he said.

Today a letter from BCCI president Anurag Thakur arrived to all the office bearers of CAB. It was instructed to cancel the election. Otherwise it will be contempt of court. According to sources, CAB has 121 affiliated members among which 17 are clubs. If the amendment of constitution is not accepted, these 17 members could be relegated as associate members.
