Jadon Sancho scored his first hat-trick for Borussia Dortmund

XtraTime Web Desk: 2017 U17 World Cup hero England footballer Jadon Sancho scored his first professional hat-trick in Bundesliga for Borussia Dortmund on Sunday. Sancho’s three goals helped second-placed Dortmund to a 6-1 rout against Paderborn. Thorgan Hazard, Achraf Hakimi and Marcel Schmelzer were the other scorers for Dortmund.

Indian football fans will remember Jadon Sancho as he was the biggest star in the 2017 U17 FIFA World Cup which was held in India. He had to leave the tournament mid-way into the tournament for his commitments with the German club.

Sunday’s result left Dortmund seven points behind defending champions and league leaders Bayern Munich. Dortmund is now on 60 points from 29 games with five rounds of matches remaining. League leaders Bayern Munich is on 67 points.

The England winger was involved in a controversy though as he was seen flashing his T-shirt with a message “Justice for George Floyd” once he scored his hat trick. The 20 year old was booked for the same reason.

George Floyd was a African American who succumbed to death on MAY 25 after a Minneapolis police officer pressed his knee into his neck as he pleaded that he couldn’t breathe. Derek Chauvin was charged Friday with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.

Sancho later tweeted, “First professional hat trick. A bittersweet moment personally as there are more important things going on in the world today that we must address and help make a change. We have to come together as one & fight for justice. We are stronger together!”
